This is a rather disappointing update as I have had but a meager handful of opportunities to play Sims in the last two weeks (YAY family drama FTW!) but I got one of the boys to college at least. If only barely. Now, I was originally intending to begin the 2.0 generation numbering when both boys began college, but fuggedaboutit. I think I'll just adopt the more traditional numbering system of changing to the next generation when it is born. I am so tired of being stuck on Generation 1. Without further ado:

It's a crime that not everybody can be this damn good-looking. )

I am dismayed that I have spent this much time on Gen 1. I'm willing to chalk it up to my legacy newbieness, but now it's time to move on. This update is very short, not terribly funny, and gets us through the essentials so that next time, A NEW GENERATION WILL DAWN.

Ahem.

Recap: Jude and Peggy got married, and had two kids -- a wonder of recessive genetics Rudy, who managed to keep Jude's red hair, and Daniel, who got the elf ears. Various hijinks occured, most typically involving Jude's total lack of cool with the ladies. In particular, Deborah keeps popping up and can't control herself from gagging whenever Jude is in her radar. I hate her. So I've decided it's not enough for Jude to degrade her, but she's also in need of a good murdering. CARRYING ON.

I've had all I can stand, and I can't stands no more! )

Finally my computer + the internets quit acting up long enough for me to scrape an update together. I'm afraid this is pretty short and not very witty, wrought as it is from post-holiday chaos. Next update will not only be better, it will hopefully fast forward things into Gen 2. Gen 1 is taking waaaay too long.

Where last we left off, Rudy is more than likely traumatized, Peggy's pregnant again, and Jude is lucky he marries rich because he hasn't had a promotion in YEARS. Also, I'm trying to get silly townie Deborah to fall for Jude, move in, and then murder her because she keeps showing up on outings and parties to gag at Jude. No one makes a point of gagging at my Sim men without something horrible happening to them!

Anyway, on with the circus.

Hallelujah! I am no longer sick, nor am I encased in the worst ice storm in my state's history any longer! Finally, I can update my founder challenge.

Mutants, babies, and mutant babies. Possibly premeditated murder, also. )

I'm sick with a cold and I have 300 pics sitting in my legacy folder, so I figured there wasn't any better possible combination to nudge me into getting the latest update yet. So enjoy the super mega ginormous update while I try to keep my head from popping like a balloon.

Previously: Jude finally found a pretty girl named Brenda, and moved her broke ass in. She had enough money to build three of the four walls required to have a "house". Brenda caught Jude macking on the cosmetic-dependent Kara, and she was pretty mad about it, though Brenda was attempting to have relations with the husband of one of my other legacy sims earlier. Kara was also loaded, Jude discovered, so it was a pretty easy choice to boot out Brenda and move in Kara. Aaaaaand on with the show.t

If you've got the cash, I've got the sexy. )

120 pics or so under the cut. Too stuffy for any further wittiness. *flops*

Where last we left off, Jude Finnegan had just failed repeatedly to woo anything and everything on two legs and four. He also has no walls, no cash, and has to periodically pawn his belongings to get his needs fulfilled. He does, however, have a very fetching set of stairs which cost him 90% of his life savings.

But surely bad luck streaks can't last forever? )

I'm terribly far ahead on this legacy. Should I post bigger updates to catch up, or are the 60-80 pic updates working just fine? Or maybe I should take more relevant pictures. I'm just happy to see some drama. It all moves up from here, folks!

There does need to be some more slapping. I'll have to work on that. Of course, he still has dozens of women he needs to fall in love with him, so lots of opportunities.

Thank you for your patronage. Comments and criticism welcome. :)

This is mah legacy. The founder comes to you courtesy of [info]dothesmustle, as part of the [info]legacy_writers community challenge. So, yeah, if you've seen him 13 times already, that'd be why. :) I'm taking part in the challenge in the hopes that it will make me update regularly, keep me interested in playing, and make me less shy about commenting and putting these things in public journals. So far, I'd say it's working. I am obsessed. This is the first update, I have one more ready, and another update's worth of pics to edit -- and I haven't hit Gen 2 yet. Hurrah!

That is all. Read, laugh, and be gentle.

While nothing terribly exciting happened this update, just wait till I get a few more updates posted. There are move ins! Engagements! Betrayals! Jude gets walls and finally, FINALLY, gets laid! All this and more next time with Redheaded Elf Hottie #147, AKA Jude Finnegan. :D

So after playing the Rooks some more, the Triplets and Quads hack ruined my life I was being driven crazy and felt less like a Sim God and more like an underpaid babysitter. In the midst of this, a challenge popped up at [info]legacy_writers for sign-ups to begin a legacy with everyone using the same founder.

It came at a good time so I'm giving it a shot. It has a deadline on it so I'm thinking it'll be good training to get me used to updating, which in turn keeps me motivated to play beyond popping out SimBabies.

I may work on the Rooks some more, but I'm really missing an earlier legacy, the La Fays, whom I ran into again while doing the founder challenge. Guess I (and the other .5 people reading this journal) will have to see!

Honestly, I'm just posting this to kill some time while waiting for the pics for my challenge to load. W00t.

So... I'm a first-time legacy poster, though I've attempted a few legacies before; I never made it past the childhood of Gen 2. :( Taking shots for a journal really seems to motivate me to stay interested, so even if nobody reads this, I've accomplished my purpose!

I've never worked with screenshots much, so if my pics are rough, I beg your pardon. ;) It took me a while to find a cropping style I was happy with for the first batch of shots, and I just hope the constant shifting of pic size doesn't make anyone crazy. It does stabilize midway through to consistent dimensions.

Naturally, this is Gen 1.0, so it may not be terribly interesting, regardless of what I think. All suggestions, critiques, and rotten tomatoes are welcome. :)

For reference, I'm following the gist of the legacy rules, but I'm not keeping score and I do use hacks/mods that I don't feel violate the spirit of the challenge. I also have a variation I'm using where each generation is responsible for a new aspect of the legacy; I've decided 1.0 is responsible for not only rearing Gen 2 to adulthood in reasonably good condition, but also for beginning the legacy pet line and for bringing some kind of supernatural element into the legacy. I've decided that Gen 2 will be starting the family business, and Gen 3 will be planting the family tree (and at that point I'll put together an actual family tree). After that, I'm not sure yet. I'll see how it goes.

I do have a loose storyline in my head for the legacy, but really, I have trouble seriously writing about sims. They're too goofy. My founder is supposed to be a depraved mad scientist whose genetic experiments lead him into the depths of Lovecraftian depravity, the horrors of which haunt his descendants forever, but really, he's going to have a pillow fight whenever I'm not looking anyway.

Anyway, enough preamble. The Rook Legacy begins!

Trust me. I'm a professional. )

So there's 1.0 for you. I have a very special surprise planned for 1.1, so tune in! I'll be fixing some things, too:
1. Standardizing pic size.
2. Widening borders and making them frame the shots better.
3. Being more careful to center the pics so sims aren't off to the side.
4. Anything else someone suggests. :)
